The ACPA23 Convention Team, Governing Board and Entity Leadership, and International Office are committed to a Convention centering attendees’ experiences, focusing on skill and knowledge development, and advancing our collective work towards racial justice and decolonization. The ACPA23 experience will provide intentional space focused on opportunities for strategic planning and actionable takeaways. We look forward to inviting proposals that center creative engagement as we visit New Orleans – a place with a history of celebrating cultural pluralism and creative expression. As you think toward what you might propose, we encourage you to consider:

ACPA23 Program Types

Educational Sessions

Convention Program	60 minutes	Presentation or panel sessions on a specific topic.
Career Snapshot	30 minutes	Presentation or skill-building sessions centering career development and advancement. Career snapshots will have a focus on the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies. Key areas of content consideration include: Competency & skill development Application of racial justice/decolonization at work Critical review of higher education employment in the 21st Century
Pre-Convention Workshops	4 or 6 hours	4 or 6 hour workshops meant for an in-depth discussion on current and emerging topics that transform higher education. 4-hour sessions will be Sunday morning (9 am – 1 pm). 6-hour sessions will be Saturday afternoon/evening (12 - 6 pm).
Experiential Program	60 minutes	ACPA23 is excited to once again offer Experiential Programs as a way to highlight the creative talents and ideas our members possess. We invite you to consider what you’re passionate about & willing to share with others. As we dream of our time together embark on a celebration in New Orleans, how can you use your gifts to engage learners in your session in ways that shift beyond lectures and slides? Then this space is for you! Come ready to present, share with others & engage in community with a unique modality that could include but is not limited to spoken word, art, film, and musical performances.

Scholarship Sessions

Session Type	Session Time	Overview
Research-In-Process	20 minutes of a 60 minute session	Research-in-process sessions are 20 minutes long and will be paired with a second paper in the same session block (60-minute session). Research-in-process sessions take the best parts of communal roundtable discussions, paper discussant feedback, and add the opportunity to develop a paper at almost ANY STAGE OF READINESS. Papers that are fully drafted (as in past years) should be submitted in this session type as well. Each scholar(s) will be paired with an experienced, published scholar-mentor such as an ACPA Emerging or Senior Scholar with an additional goal of supporting the author to reach publication. Multimodal	20 minutes of a 60 minute session	Scholarship presentations in this area include performance, visual, digital, and other arts-based forms of knowledge creation and distribution. Multimodal presentations can include forms such as Zines, storytelling, poetry, documentary, photo-voice project, artifact presentation, or the presentation of research findings in another creative format. Multimodal sessions exist in three formats: (a) 20 minute long presentation where two multimodal presentations are assigned to one session block allowing time for discussion (60 minute session in total); 40 minute long presentation where one multimodal presentation is assigned to one session block allowing time for discussion (60 minute session in total); and (c) poster-style. Multimodal sessions exist in two formats: (a) 20 minutes long presentation where two multimodal presentations are assigned to one session block (60 minute session in total); (b) poster-style. Multimodal sessions exist in two formats: (a) 30 minutes long presentation where two multimodal presentations are assigned to one session block (60 minute session in total); (b) poster-style.
Methods Workshop	60 minutes	Methods workshops allow members to present a project that uses compelling research methods and teaches others how to apply this method to their own work. Presentations in this format should be considered continuing professional development allowing members to build self-efficacy and capacity around creating scholarship and assessment tools to bring back to their campuses.

The ACPA23 Program team is developing resources to assist as you prepare your educational session submission. These resources include a program proposal worksheet – a form one can build out a program proposal before entering it into the portal, the rubrics used to review program submissions, a how-to submit a proposal presentation, and sample proposals you can review while developing your proposal.

The due date to submit an Educational or Scholarship proposal is Friday, 9 September 2022. The deadline to submit a Pre-Convention workshop is 29 July 2022.
